Pine Gap is an area of Australia to which access is completely prohibited, and it is the only area of Australia to possess such status. Pine Gap is a tracking station for satellites, and covers approximately 18 km. of land. There is a main operating facility at Pine Gap which employs over 800 people regularly. The attractive thing about Pine Gap is that the facility and its computer capabilities are the powers which control America's spy satellites.
