The data are indeed clear

As long as ten years ago, University of Copenhagen researchers reviewed 14 randomized trials involving more than 170,000 people who took supplements of vitamins A, C, E and beta-carotene. Their aim was to see if these heavily promoted 'antioxidants' could prevent intestinal cancers, as claimed.

The Danish medics concluded: 'We could not find evidence that antioxidant supplements can prevent intestinal cancers. On the contrary, they seem to increase overall mortality.'
