The Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro finally starts today i.e. August 5th and closes on August 21st. This time the opening and the closing ceremony will take place in Maracana Stadium with 16,000 athletes participating in 306 competitions across 42 different sports. However, the build-up has not been without problems. Brazil is currently experiencing its worst recession to threats, the Zika virus, slow ticket sales and water pollution.
