Born in "the city of Nawabs": Hyderabad, to Punjabi father Suresh Oberoi, an ace Bollywood character actor and a Tamil mother Yashodhara Oberoi, Vivek surprises his fans by speaking several languages. Vivek studied at Mayo College, Ajmer and then attended Mithibai College, Juhu. He completed his Masters degree in film acting from New York.
Oberoi made his debut with RGV's Company and received Filmfare Awards for Best Debut and Best Supporting Actor. In 2002 he starred in Saathiya directed by Shaad Ali which was a huge box office hit and earned him a Filmfare nomination in the Best Actor category and after that he carried his journey with a bucket full of marbles, e.g. Road, Dum, Masti, Yuva, Omkara, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Mission Istanbul to name a few and the show is going on and on.

Oberoi has also done the great work of philanthropist with his sleeves full on and was awarded the Married to the daughter of Karnataka Minister Jeevaraj Alva, the Oberoi couple is blessed with a son, Vivaan Veer Oberoi.
