The Shrine Eternal- Somnath
The Somnath temple is one of the 12 Jotirlings shrines of the God Shiva. According to the legends, the Somnath Temple is very old and was originally built in gold by the Somraj. Later it was rebuilt by Ravana in Silver then by Krishna in wood and Bhimdev in stone. The present temple is built in the Chalukya style of temple architecture and reflects the skill of the Sompura Salats. It was rebuilt and destroyed 8 times. People of all the religion come to seek blessings from the God Shiva. The rugged sea below gives it a lonely, wistful charm.
