Amidst the devastation wreaked by COVID-19 the world over, and the tragic news of Soumitra Chatterjee's demise, the book Soumitra Chatterjee: A Life in Cinema, Theatre, Poetry& Painting, authorized by him through a series of interviews to our authors, could not be handed over as the moments slipped by. The book was in the last stage of production when Mr Soumitra Chatterjee was admitted to the hospital.
An octogenarian, Soumitra Chatterjee did not believe in looking back, and even at 85, kept looking forward to new challenges. This is probably why his death is not a coda, because he had so much more to contribute to the world of theatre, art and cinema. This book is a celebration of his multi-faceted creative genius and his role in representing Bengal on the world stage.
