It was Lata Mangeshkar who was responsible for Neil Nitin Mukesh's name. Legend has it that when she saw the baby for the 1st time, he was so fair that she said that he looked like a foreigner. Since his father was a big fan of Neil Armstrong. Neil was named after the famous astronaut.
As a child, Neil featured in two films- Vijay and Jaisi Karni Waisi Bharni. He played junior Rishi Kapoor and junior Govinda respectively.
